Dear Fellow Meditators, đ
Welcome to the second edition of our newsletterâIâm so delighted to have you here.
This episodeâs insightful quote comes from one of my favourite Buddhist teachers, Pema Chödrön:
âIt is lack of love for ourselves that inhibits our compassion toward others. If we make friends with ourselves, then there is no obstacle to opening our hearts and minds to others.â â Pema Chödrön
Reflections:
What a truly beautiful and inspiring quote, filled with so much wisdom. From my own experience, this resonates deeply. As Iâve learned to cultivate compassion and appreciation for myselfâincluding the parts I may not particularly likeâIâve noticed that this acceptance naturally extends to others.
When I encounter those same traits in someone else, I find it easier to offer understanding and kindness. Itâs a powerful reminder that our external world reflects our internal one.
To truly embrace and accept others, regardless of where they are in life, we must first embrace and accept ourselves.
Pause and Reflect:
- Can you recall a recent moment when you were perhaps unkind or overly critical towards yourself?
- What would it feel like to respond to that part of yourself with compassion and acceptance instead?
- How might this shift affect your interactions with others?
Take a moment to sit with these reflections.
With gratitude,
Marco Angelo, Founder
